Week 4 Wall
Week 4 Wall
I've been reading this board since I started, but just created an account today. I just have to ask has anyone else gig a wall on week 4? I had to repeat a day on both w1 and w2. Then w3 went easy. But now I can't seem to make it through a full day of w4. On w4d1 I couldn't finish the 1st 5 min run, but completed all the other runs. Now today on w4d2 I couldn't finish either of the 5 min runs. I don't know if I need to move indoors to a treadmill to avoid the heat or what. I feel like I needed more baby steps. Maybe a week of 4 three minute runs? I don't want to repeat w3 since it seemed pretty easy, but I don't know how to get into w4. Did anyone else have problems with w4?

Re: Week 4 Wall
I don't remember week 4 to be honest.... I am on week 7. I do know this, week 4 seems to be the week where people start trying to run too fast. Vary your pace from slow to faster and slow down to an almost walk if you have to but never stop. This app is to build up stamina and you will still build stamina even if you aren't going super fast. I hope this helps. People have bad days and even bad weeks but you will keep progressing, I promise!

Re: Week 4 Wall
I have just come in from finishing week 4 for the second time (so 6 x w4 runs in all) and still can't quite do it. The first 2 I ever did I completed, but the last 4 have been awful. During the second 5 minute run, I have to walk for about 20 seconds in the middle, then I finish it off - I just can't do it and I am finding it really frustrating. I'm not sure now whether to just start Wk 5 on Monday (and see how it goes), or repeat week 4 again (for the third time). The strange thing is, when I' running the middle 3 minutes, I feel like I could carry on. It's really odd !! At least I feel like I'm not the only one now

Re: Week 4 Wall
I've just ran w4r1 a few days behind schedule as the weather has been awful. I don't mind running in showers but draw the line at total downpours. So much for summer! This was the first run I have really struggled with and not sure if it was down to the few days break or the fact that the running time has doubled from w3. I did manage to complete it but the last 2 mins were really more of a fast walk! I'll see how the next run goes as at the minute can see this being the first week I might repeat. Thanks to all who recommended endomondo. Am using it and is a good little app to run alongside this one. The posts on this forum are really helping keep me motivated.

Keep us informed Redders of how you go, and good luck

Re: Week 4 Wall
Cheers sunshine. I am determined to finish this programme even I do have to repeat some runs. W4r2 finished today but I am not sure I can use the term running for the last 3 mins. My legs just felt like lead weights and I was more or less just shuffling by this point. I must have looked a right sight! Still onwards and upwards I hope. Have you decided to start w5 or do another w4 run? It's hard to know what to do if my final run of w4 is like the first 2 runs I don't feel like I will have completed w4 properly to move on. Is that what you figured? How are other w4 runners doing?

Re: Week 4 Wall
I just completed W4r1 last night. It was tougher than week 3 for sure. It also didn't help that I started running down a small hill and had to run up during my last 5 minutes! I don't run fast and I probably look more like I'm shuffling than running but I don't care! My knees hurt after the run last night and that hasn't happened before. I'm 49 and probably 10 pounds over weight so that could be part of the knee pain as could running up hill. I'm not sure if I'll need to repeat this week, I'll decide that after run 3. If I need to I will without regret. I am still better off than the millions sitting on their couches! Good luck and keep posting progress!
