Newbie! Dizziness question :/

Post by Chelle83 »

Hi everyone!
I'm new to running and currently just completed W3R1, I'm really enjoying it but did find that today my 3 minute run happened to be uphill and by the time I finished I was fairly dizzy, not to the point that I was going to fall over but slightly funny vision! Has anyone ever experienced this ? I am about 9st and 5ft 2 so not overweight but have just given up smoking and am unfit!

Thanks for reading :)

A few questions: how hot is it where you are? Did you eat before you ran, and if so, what did you have? Were you properly hydrated?

It could just be that you pushed yourself too hard. While it's great you completed the three minute run, it's definitely not expected you should push yourself to almost fainting! Slow down on the next run, to a snail's pace if need be, but next time try to take your running down a few notches and see if that helps.

Thank you for reply.

It's really cold where I am (UK-south) I ate 2 pieces of fruit toast and took water with me!! The second 3 minute run was on the flat and I was ok so maybe just pushed myself a bit too much - oops!! I am kind of hooked , i always can't wait for the next run!!

:) :D

Okay, that is good to know. It doesn't seem like you had too little/too much to eat before you went out, so that's not the trouble - and if it was, you'd probably have stomach cramps, not dizziness. So, really, it seems like you just overdid yourself. It's easy to do! Hang in there and listen to your body; you'll do great.
