Anyone had to 'resit' a week?

Post by fionashivers »

Hi,

Just coming up to the end of week 2 and worried that I won't cope with the increase to 3 minutes next week. On top of that we're moving house on Saturday!

Wondered what people have done when they come across the point where the increase in minutes gets too much and whether you should 'resit' a week or carry on with pauses?

Hi Fi. I'm sure there's no problem with resitting a week if you need to. Many others have done so. That would be far better than stopping! On the other hand, it might be worth trying the w3 runs. Make sure you do the brisk warm-up walk first. If you want - extend that. I'm sure it is the warm up which makes a huge difference. And keep your pace as slow as you like for the runs. The idea is not to aim for speed - but to develop stamina.

Remember we are all going through a process of helping our bodies develop something that has been very alien to us! Enjoy the sessions - your 'you' time. Hopefully you will be amazed at what you'll achieve! And good luck with the move!

Hi,

Oh, I'm certainly going to give week 3 a go and see what happens! Surprised myself at how I coped with week2 - just suspicious and wondering when it's going to get a bit over my head! I'll keep trying and see what happens.

Got my running shoes now though so very excited at the thought of the next run! My knees were beginning to hurt a bit, so wonder if it will help that. The fitter at the shop seemed to think so.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Fiona,
I had exactly the same thoughts about 3 min runs.... and I've just come in from doing them for the first time. I went much slower (particularly uphill) and found that I was less tired at the end than I was in week 2! Slow slow slow and it is not that hard. It also feels like an incredible achievement after worrying about it for the two days off.
