I've just completed Week 1 Run 3. Still not easy but I'm cautiously optimistic
My leg muscles and, to my surprise, my knees are bearing up ok but where I'm feeling stiffness and at risk of pulling something is in my hip flexors. I know some of this is because I need a better pair of running shoes and I'll be buying one after payday on Monday. But in the meantime, do you know any good stretches for that group of muscles? A holding lunge seems to help but any other suggestions welcome.
ETA: Definitely feeling a strain in the lefthand hip flexors. I think it's because my right knee has an old injury so the right leg is weaker, so the left leg compensates and pulls too hard. I was hoping to start Week 2 on Sunday, but I think I'd better give it a rest over the weekend.
On the opening page of the Get Running app, there is a box on the bottom left corner with a question mark. Tap it, and it opens up a page of basic running information. Scroll down, and you eventually arrive at stretching. The link takes you to a site with all manner of stretches.
I had hip flexor pain when I started the program as well, and finished the program last week. I haven't had any issues since week one when I started doing the stretch suggested on that site.
