Re-running week 1

Post by Shuffler »

I started week 1 for the first time just after Christmas but by Run 3 had only managed one full 1 minute run each time, doing around 30 to 40 seconds on the other runs. Today I did a week 1 run for the fifth time and mangaged SIX full one minute runs. Woo hoo! I won't move on to week 2 until I can do the complete 8, but I feel real progress.

You're improving, and that's great! Before you know it, you'll be ready for week 2. Keep up the good work!

DO NOT feel bad about repeating a run or a week. You have to listen to your body and if you dont you'll end up like i did with shins you can barely walk on and 10 weeks behind where you should.

The best advice i was given when i started this was take it as slow as you need to to do the time and dont worry about speed. So if you are relly struggling (like we all do at times) do what you need to do and when you think the next week will be a challenge but is managable then move on.

Thanks for the encouragement. It's good to be told that slow isn't necessarily bad. Today I did a Week 1 run for the sixth time and managed all 8 complete one minute runs. I haven't had any problems with my legs (yet) but I do get out of breath and hope that my heart holds out!

So there you go!! When you started you couldnt complete the runs, now you can. So you have worked hard and you see the progress. Now you continue with the week and repeat if you need to and you will find each time it is slightly easier. On week two the runs increase a little bit and you do the same and at some point in week three you will chuckle to yourself that 2 weeks ago you couldnt run for 1 minute :)
